Writing with Claude: the partner, not the ghostwriter.

01 Zero-draft from your mess
Dump everything — fragments, bullets, a rambling voice-memo transcript — and ask: "Turn this into a rough first draft. Keep my phrasings where they're strong; flag the gaps you had to bridge." That flag request matters: Claude will tell you where it guessed, which is exactly where your attention should go on the first read.
02 Teach it your voice once
Give Claude three to five samples of your best writing: "Describe this voice precisely — rhythm, word choices, what it never does — then keep that description as our style guide." Save the guide in a Project so every future draft starts from it. Claude's voice-matching is unusually faithful, which cuts both ways: give it your good writing, not your rushed writing, or it will faithfully reproduce your rush.
03 Edit by dimension, not by vibes

04 The tough-editor pass
Claude's willingness to disagree is a writing tool: "Be a hard-to-impress editor. Where's the argument weak? What will a skeptical reader think at each section? What should be cut entirely?" Then — this is the discipline — make it defend your favorite part: "Argue that the anecdote should go." If your favorite survives an honest attack, keep it. If not, you needed to know.
05 The line that stays yours
Same rule as every track: writing that IS the relationship — the apology, the condolence, the thank-you that must cost something — you draft. Claude can check clarity; the words should be yours. Everything else: draft fast with the machine, edit like the editor you now permanently employ.
