Documents at scale — data, merge & automation.

One template makes one document fast. This lesson makes hundreds: generate many documents from your data, merge the right details into each, and automate the whole pipeline — with a review gate so accuracy survives the scale.

The mental model

At scale, a document is a template plus a row of data. The pipeline merges them; you guard the quality.

Once you have a template with marked blanks and a table of data — clients, invoices, contracts — each row becomes a finished document. AI does the merging and formatting in bulk; the new skill is mapping data to slots cleanly and keeping a review gate so one bad row doesn't become a hundred wrong documents.

The reframeScale multiplies mistakes, not just output. A typo in a one-off is one typo; the same error in a merge field is on every document. Review the mapping and a sample before you let it run.

Step 01 · Run the merge

Template + data table → many documents. Press run — it pauses for your review before producing the full batch:

template  loaded: invoice with [client] [items] [total] [date]
data  read 84 rows, mapped columns to slots
sample  generated 3 for review — fields line up
batch  81 remaining — waiting for your OK to generate all ⏸
Merge promptUsing this template and this data table, generate one document per row. Map [column] → [slot] for each field. First produce 3 samples for me to check the mapping. After I approve, generate the rest. If a row is missing a required field, skip it and list it for me rather than guessing.
It stopped after 3 samples — check the mapping on a few before producing 84. "If a row is missing a required field, skip it and list it" is what stops a blank or wrong field shipping at scale.

Step 02 · Keep accuracy at scale

Tap each habit — protects accuracy as volume rises, or invites a hundred-document mistake?

Automating a document pipeline means automating its mistakes too. A wrong total, a swapped client name, or an invented clause now ships on every document. Keep a human review gate on the samples, validate the data going in, and never let a contract or invoice batch send fully unattended — and see the Secure Your AI Use build for handling sensitive document data.

Your challenge: generate a batch safely

  1. Pair a template with a small real data table.
  2. Map columns to slots and generate 3 samples first.
  3. Check the mapping, then run the rest with missing rows flagged.
  4. Spot-check a few of the finished documents before they go out.

Automate Your Documents — complete

You can generate a document from a few details, build reusable templates, and produce documents at scale from your data — with a review gate that keeps accuracy intact. Ready for the next one?
